Plant Finder

Nearly all our plants are propagated and grown by us – in Exeter, Devon.

Below is a link to our current plant price list. Take a look to see if we grow the plants you are looking for. Some plants are unique to us, for example we are the only UK nursery to grow Acacia ‘Exeter Hybrid’ and Leptospermum ‘Gaiety Girl’ amongst 29 others. *

If anything is not listed, please contact us as you could be looking for a variety we have introduced since the list was published. If we don’t grow it, we will either try and source it for you or point you in the right direction.

Climbers & Wall Plants

Climbers & Wall Plants

Climbing plants and wall shrubs are perfect for every garden as they make use of the vertical space covering walls, fences and unsightly objects.

True climbers take up little ground space, and are excellent choices for smaller gardens, whereas wall shrubs require more ground space.

Whilst the use of using the vertical in gardening is very “on trend” think gorgeous fireworks of colour from clematis, and passion flthey also can be used to create a very traditional “Devon cottage chocolate box” look – imagine wisteria over a doorway, roses over arches and honeysuckle running through a hedge.

With so many varieties to choose from there is a climber and wall plant for every garden.

Ferns, Grasses & Bamboos

Ferns, Grasses & Bamboos

Ferns, Grasses & Bamboos are fantastic for adding texture to your garden. Many varieties do well in pots and most of them are easy care requiring very little attention after planting. Remember, our staff are experts so you don’t have to be – just ask one of us for help in choosing plants that will be right for your garden.

Heathers & Conifers

Heathers & Conifers

Heathers & Conifers are great for giving structure and colour to your garden when many other plants are dormant.

In addition, both of these plants are very easy to care for requiring little to no attention once planted. We often use a dwarf conifer in pots to give year round colour, height and structure whilst you can change the plants below it with the seasons e.g. add bedding plants such as pansies or primroses. It’s easy, just visit our garden centres for inspiration.

Fruit

Fruit

There is nothing tastier than your own home-grown fruit. We have something for every garden from strawberries that can be grown in pots to larger fruit trees for sweeping orchards.

Jargon buster; we split fruit into two categories namely soft fruit (all your berried fruit) and top fruit (fruit that grows on trees). To successfully grow top fruit like apples and pears, you need to ensure your tree is pollinated each year. This means that there must be a similar fruit tree flowering at the same time as your tree. We’re here to help you choose a tree that suits your need and will pollinate successfully so please ask one of our team when you visit or ask our plant doctor online. It really isn’t hard and you will love the results.

Hedging

Hedging

Hedges are a great alternative to fences. Not only are they a wind filter but they can be a security device (a prickly hedge will deter intruders), a home for wildlife, a more colourful option and it could increase the attractiveness and therefore the price of your property!

Herbaceous Perennials

Herbaceous Perennials

We grow 261 varieties of herbaceous perennials, so there’s bound to be some just perfect for your garden. For the non-gardener these plants appear to die in winter but magically re-shoot the following spring and should continue to follow this pattern year after year.

Some people refer to these types of plants as ‘cottage garden plant’ as they are often used in borders surrounding cottages.

Many herbaceous perennials are fantastic for attracting wildlife and pollinators to your garden. If you are interested in this then we produce a leaflet on plants for wildlife take a look at our blog or ask one of our plant team.

Roses

Roses

Roses are without a doubt one of the UK’s favourite flowers in the garden. Available in various sizes and virtually every colour there is a rose perfect for every garden.

We grow over 200 different varieties of roses!

See our events for details of our rose field tours in July – when you can see how we produce roses from a form of grafting known as rose budding. You will also be one of the first people to view and smell the wonderful fragrance of our new varieties, which will be available to buy from the autumn. These varieties include: Loving Mum, Pink Perfection, Whiter Shade of Pale, Friend’s Forever, Princess Anne, The Generous Gardener, Ali Baba, Gardener’s Glory and the Rose of The Year 2016 Sunny Sky.

Seasonal Plants

Seasonal Plants

We propagate all our seasonal bedding plants in our nursery greenhouses. Sometimes we don’t have them out as early as our competitors but that is because we go to great lengths to harden them off and so when they reach our garden centre they are strong and resilient for planting in your garden. We don’t list our bedding plants in our price list but if there is something you are looking for then please either give us a call or e-mail before making a special journey.

Shrubs

Shrubs

We grow 888 different varieties of shrubs and climbers. All of which are propagated and grown by us. Not many garden centres can say that!

Trees

Trees

Take a look at our events as we organise tours of our nursery tree fields each autumn. We grow all our trees in our open ground field and they can be sold as bare root specimens from November to March. We then dig and pot some trees to stock our garden centre throughout the year.

Vegetables & Herbs

Vegetables & Herbs

Our vegetable plants are grown from seed in our nursery greenhouses. We grow all your favourite varieties and our customers’ comment on their excellent performance. So if you just want to grow a few vegetables or have suffered losses with early sowings, buying our plants is a great way to play catch-up.

Herbs are one of the very few plants we don’t grow ourselves but we make sure we buy them from a specialist nursery also based in Devon. Because we do this, we are able to choose the freshest and most seasonal varieties and our range is constantly changing.

As seasonal plants, our vegetable and herbs are not included in our general plant price list. If you are wanting a specific variety then please call ahead before making a special journey (01392 873672) or ask our plant doctor.
